This interactive evening will celebrate the accomplishments of local businesses looking beyond the city limits to understand what companies face when they make the decision to scale beyond our local borders. Speakers will share their ideas, hurdles and experiences and answer questions to help other entrepreneurs looking to scale their businesses. The evening concludes with a business networking mixer where you can learn from others, share your own experiences and build relationships.

Dr. Yaroslav Dr. Yaroslav “Yarko” Pustovyi

Former astronaut with the Ukrainian space agency, Dr. Pustovyi served as a Backup Payload Specialist for STS-87 Space Shuttle Columbia mission in 1997. Yarko is a co-founder of Space 1 Systems Inc., a Barrie-based commercial spaceflight company with business interests reaching well beyond Simcoe County.
Krista Lariviere Krista LaRiviere

Krista LaRiviere is Cofounder & CEO of gShift. She is passionate about the digital space, and obsessed with bringing automation and innovation to the marketing tactics of SEO, Social Media and Content Marketing. In addition to driving gShift, Krista also volunteers her time on the Board of Directors of SEMPO. She has been recognized by numerous organizations for her leadership and business success including being awarded Barrie’s Business Woman of the Year, named by the BDC as one of Canada’s Top Ten Young Entrepreneurs and honoured by Nipissing University as Alumni of the Year.

Chris Hammond

Stardale Studio is a Canadian game development company. With a small group of three developers the team taps into past knowledge and experience gained from working on desktop, console, and mobile games – including Thor and Batman for Nintendo DS, Skullgirls for PC/Xbox 360/PS3, and founding TerrariaOnline.com. Stardale Studio is currently working on its first title, Stardale, a single and multiplayer 2D creative space exploration and adventure game with a fully playable universe and planets all created with procedural generation.
John Pickard

John Pickard, Executive Director, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre
John Pickard is the Executive Director of the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre at Georgian College. Mr. Pickard is a Marketing strategist with experience in the consumer goods, publishing and telecom industries. Mr. Pickard honed his skills with global marketers Bristol-Myers and Warner-Lambert. John became Vice President of Telemedia Publishing, then Canada’s largest publisher, in 1990. Pickard entered the entrepreneurial ranks when he joined a start-up in the prepaid card market….. which was ultimately sold to AT&T. Mr. Pickard is well connected to the investment community and has been involved in securing investment for a variety of early stage companies. John has an extensive list of contacts in the Entrepreneurship space having spent the 6 years prior to joining Georgian College mentoring with Mars Discovery District, Bioenterprise Corp., and Innovation Guelph.
